Table 8 of 10 in the Math Engine 28-day challenge
The 8 times table: forward, then in reverse
The 8s are where many adults quietly stop trusting their memory. You know the table exists, but 8 × 7 or 8 × 6 doesn’t always arrive without a pause. That is common, and it responds well to simple, repeated practice.
Patterns in the 8 times table
8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80
- The ones digits count down by two, then repeat: 8, 6, 4, 2, 0, and again 8, 6, 4, 2, 0.
- The tens digits climb by one, with a pause in the middle: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Both 40 and 48 start with a 4.
- Every answer is double the same step in the 4 times table. 4 × 7 = 28, and 28 doubled is 56, which is 8 × 7. If you have already practiced the 4s, this is a handy way to check yourself.
