Imagine scanning a stack of monthly utility receipts, invoices, or school certificates all at once. Your scanner bundles everything into a single ten-page PDF document.
However, when it is time to submit them, your accounting portal, human resources department, or cloud storage requires each receipt uploaded as a separate document. Renaming and extracting each page manually through screen captures or printer tricks can take up your entire afternoon.
Uploading private tax documents or receipts to online converters is also a security hazard. With PDF Engine, you can divide an entire multi-page document into individual, numbered PDF files on your computer with a single click.
Step 1: Open PDF Engine and Choose “Split PDF”
Open PDF Engine on your Windows laptop or desktop:
- On the main welcome screen, click the Split PDF button (under “Extract pages or divide your document”).
Step 2: Select Your Multi-Page Document
- In the top box, click the Browse PDF… button.
- Select the multi-page document you want to divide and click Open.
- PDF Engine will instantly scan the file and show the detected page count (for example, “10 pages detected”).
Step 3: Keep “Split all pages” Selected
In the bottom card, you will see two dividing methods:
- Leave the first option selected: Split all pages.
- This tells the app to take every page from page 1 to the end and create an individual PDF file for each one.
Step 4: Click “Split PDF”
- Click the large Split PDF button at the bottom.
- You will see the green progress bar quickly move across the screen as each page is converted into its own clean file.
Step 5: Check Your Individual Files
Once completed, a success notification will appear with a summary of your separated pages:
- Click the Open Folder button.
- A new folder will open inside
Downloads/pdf_engine/, named after your original file. - Inside, you will see each page saved as an independent PDF document:
1.pdf,2.pdf,3.pdf, and so on.
Your original master file stays intact, and you now have a neatly organized folder with all your pages ready to file or email.
