Have you ever received a 40-page contract, bank report, or manual, but only needed a single page to sign and email back?
In the past, getting just one or two pages out of a large PDF meant printing the whole thing and scanning it back in, or paying for expensive software suites. While online converters exist, uploading confidential bank statements, tax forms, or personal records to random websites is a huge privacy concern.
With PDF Engine, you can extract the exact pages you need directly on your Windows PC in seconds, keeping your private documents completely safe on your hard drive.
Step 1: Open PDF Engine and Select “Split PDF”
Open PDF Engine on your computer. On the welcome screen, you will see two simple options:
- Click the Split PDF button (under “Extract pages or divide your document”).
Step 2: Select Your PDF File
- In the top card, click the Browse PDF… button.
- Choose the PDF file you want to take pages from, then click Open.
- Once loaded, PDF Engine displays the name of your file and the total number of pages detected (for example, “42 pages detected”).
Step 3: Choose “By custom ranges”
By default, the app is set to split all pages. To extract only the pages you want:
- Click the radio button next to By custom ranges.
- A text box will activate right below it.
- Type the page numbers you want to extract:
- To extract a single page: Type just the number (e.g.,
5). - To extract a continuous block of pages: Use a hyphen (e.g.,
1-3to get pages 1, 2, and 3). - To extract multiple separate pages: Separate them with commas (e.g.,
2, 5, 8-10).
- To extract a single page: Type just the number (e.g.,
Step 4: Click “Split PDF”
Once you have typed your desired page numbers:
- Click the large Split PDF button at the bottom.
- A progress bar will show the extraction progress, which usually takes under two seconds.
Step 5: Find Your Extracted Pages
When the extraction is finished, a confirmation dialog will pop up with details of your saved files:
- Click the Open Folder button.
- Windows will automatically open your
Downloads/pdf_engine/folder, inside a dedicated folder named after your original document. - Inside, you will find your extracted pages neatly saved as individual PDF files, named by their page numbers (like
5.pdf).
Your original document remains completely untouched, and you now have the exact pages you needed ready to email, print, or archive.
